NBA Trade Rumors: Will Barton A Top Target For Many Teams

Will Barton, the Denver Nuggets wing, has become one of the most sought-after trade targets for several general managers around the league, per sources.

Prior the June’s NBA Draft, many teams contacted Denver’s front office and offered first-round picks but were turned down.

According to the Denver Post, the Nuggets told interested suitors that Barton featured in their future plans and wasn’t available in trade talks.

The Nuggets have an exciting young core that features international bigs Nikola Jokic and Jusuf Nurkic, besides the likes of Kenneth Faried, Danilo Gallinari, Emmanuel Mudiay, Gary Harris and latest draftee Jamal Murray.

Will Barton: Sixth Man of the year?

Barton, drafted in the second round by the Portland Trail Blazers, had a breakout season last year, finishing in top-5 voting ballots for both Sixth Man of the Year and Most Improved Player.

After being bounced around from Portland to Denver, a few times over, Barton finally found enough playing time to showcase his skills last season.

And the Nuggets view him as the established Sixth Man heading into the new season. And Barton is ready to take his game to a new level.

“I don’t want to be stagnant. I don’t want to be ‘this is who I am’,” Barton was quoted as saying by the Denver Post.

Barton revealed how became a better player this offseason. “I evaluate myself before I start touching a basketball in the summer.

“I break down all of my film, looking at all of my offensive clips, all of my defensive clips, really trying to dissect what I can improve and things I did wrong, come up with a game plan and then attack the summer.”

Besides Barton, Gary Harris is another up-and-coming talent who was in the running for Most Improved Player lasdt season.

Will Barton and the Denver Nuggets begin their preseason against the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 3.
